Golf Course Report

Hello members and guests

With the welcome rain a fortnight ago we have gone out and fertilised all tees, fairways, greens and greens surrounds. With the moisture in the soil this is the ideal time to fertilise so the plant can utilise all available nutrients the best, when we get dry periods we will hold out fertilising as it will in fact burn and kill the grass. This should also help keep as much grass coverage as possible though winter.

The 1st tee works is almost complete with just drainage to be installed on the right side of the tee to drain excess water from the tee and the carpark. We over sowed the tee with league rye grass which has germinated well and gives a nice colour up.

Our irrigation repairs continue with more green valves being repaired, we are also installing numerous air valves around the course to get unwanted air out of the pipes which can cause leaks and pipe breaks. The irrigation work at the putting green and 27th hole is almost complete with us re directing the pipes and re moving the old line which ran directly underneath the path, the pipe has been replaced with a stronger metric poly pipe which will minimise the chance of future pipe breaks in that area.

All greens are now at 4mm and will remain at this height until the warm season, overall I’m very happy with the way the Poa greens have established and am just as happy with the remaining couch greens which seem to be handling the cooler temperatures extremely well and holding plenty of colour.

Kind regards
